Job Description:
This role will ensure Hotels.com is maximising its SEO potential through a fact, evidence & best-practice approach to large scale SEO site optimisation. This role is a combination of technical SEO and analytical skills.
Key Areas Of Responsibility:
SEO Product
•Act as technical liaison advising and encouraging the SEO Product planning team on all aspects of SEO and being available for dev team on inline decisions.
•Ensuring all items on the SEO roadmap are maximising their SEO potential
•Identifying bugs and enhancement opportunities, raising issues to define the workload of the SEO Continuous Improvement team
•Reviewing all SEO reporting analytics to diagnose improvement fixes
•SEO lead in user acceptance testing (UAT)
•Being on top of technical SEO best practice and working up to recommendation new ideas
•Taking the lead in seeing through to production tools and systems to ensure the SEO team can deliver on their projects e.g. CMS, external tools
SEO analytics
•To monitor the sites performance, from site crawls through to onsite KPIs. To share information and make recommendations for improvements where necessary
•To run ad-hoc reports and deep-dive investigations as necessary
•To measure and report on all initiatives Vs objectives.
•Collection and reporting of marketing performance data on a weekly/monthly basis.
•To perform SEO orientated market and competitor research
Co-ordination & Expertise
•Develop high expertise in SEO, be the most up to date on SEO news, learning’s and changes, tests and theories
•Share initiatives, best practice and results within the wider SEO teams.
Skills / Experience:
Essential
•Must be of a technical and analytical mindset.
•Significant experience in an online marketing background – should demonstrate understanding and involvement with large-scale SEO implementation.
•Demonstrate technical skills on Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Information Architecture (IA) design, web analytics, conversion rate improvement & usability optimization and web application development.
•Must have a high degree of competence in a number of tools, skills and technical languages
•Content Management Systems
•Reporting suites especially Omniture (Site Catalyst and Discover)
•Technical languages such as SQL, XML, CSS, XHTML, CSS, HTML,
•Database and spreadsheet programs.
•Search engines own tools and APIs
•A detailed understanding of Google and other local search engines webmaster guidelines, of keyword research and targeting,
•An understanding of cookies, redirects, server configuration & response codes, URL configuration, coding of html and JavaScript and analytics tagging approaches.
•Excellent communication skills.
•University Degree or equivalent experience, ideally in Computer Sciences or similar
•Excellent SEO technical skills & expertise:
•At least 2 years experience of improving the technical side of SEO for an online retailer or media in a competitive market.
•Good analytical skills, from report creation to explanation.
Desirable
•Knowledge of other online marketing channels and their interactions with SEO
