How to turn off the system beep in Ubuntu

If like me, you’ve heard the system BEEP! every time you accidentally mistype your password at the login screen a million times and you’re fed up of it, you might want to consider turning it off! It’s not immediately obvious, so here’s how:

1) Go to System>Preferences>Sound and click the “System Beep” tab.

2) Uncheck “enable system beep”

That’s it! No more beeps :-)
