SES London 2010 [Highlights & Speaking]

SES London is always a packed conference full of exciting speakers and presentations and this year is no exception. The event itself returns to The Business Design Centre, Islington full of the usual day and night entertainment and, although nothing has been announced yet, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a London SEO happen on one of those nights. This particular badge appears to be the one SES intended for partly for Chicago but it looks pretty enough so let’s go with it. For info, the London conference will be on the 15th to the 19th of February.

Speaking at A4UEXPO – London

a4uexpoI’m delighted to be speaking at this year’s A4UEXPO at the Excel Centre, 13-14th October 2009. A4UEXPO London is Europe’s Largest Affiliate Marketing Conference and Exhibition. Apparently the organisers have limited the registrations this year to 1200 people, so, register soon to avoid disapointment.

On Day 1, I’ll be on a so far TBC SEO session panel moderated by Jon Myers, who as well as being a stand up guy is probably one of the best moderators in the land. On Day 2, I’ll be on the “Extreme SEO Moderated Debate” with Dave, Ciaran and Marcus Tandler.

SEOmoz Pro Seminar – London with Distilled

SEOmoz-pro-training-seminar

I’m delighted to be part of this year’s Distilled / SEOmoz Pro Training Seminar at Imagination Gallery London, UK – October 19th & 20th 2009. It’s the first time ever this series is coming to London and according to Distilled’s head honcho Will Critchlow, they’re working on bringing the same level of actionable tips and tricks “across the pond”.

If you’re an SEO in the UK you should be seriously considering getting in on this 2 day training course. As SEOmoz puts it:

SMX London 2009 Presentation: Diagnosing Website Architecture Issues

SMX London 2009 turned out to be another hugely successful and enjoyable conference, both inside and outside the conference building! With plenty of useful content across both days and heaps of networking and hanging out with some really nice people, I thoroughly recommend attending next year. In the meantime – here’s my presentation from “Diagnosing Website Architecture Issues”, presented with together with Rand, Heini, and Luisella Mazza of Google.

Overall, the session was extremely exciting. Here are some key takeaways from the presentation and some tips I gave in conversation during my intro and the Q&A session:

SMX London – Speaking on the diagnosing site architecture issues panel

I’m very pleased to be speaking at two panels this year at the SMX London event on the 18th and 19th May, 2009.

Both of my panels are on the 19th – first up, “Industrial Strength SEO“. I’ll actually be drawing upon some of my experience in organisational SEO for this one. Particulary, recruiting, organising and managing your SEO team. Those that know me well will realise I’ll be drawing upon my experience as UK SEO Manager for Cheapflights.co.uk. I’ll also be covering how to interface SEO practises with the rest of the company, from content creation to SEO technical specifications. Should be a nice start to the day.

Speaking at SMX London 2009 – Industrial Strength SEO

smx london 2009 - logoYou might feel like the last SMX London conference was only months ago. “Oh! How time flies”, you could say. Well, it was only a few months ago – SMX London has moved from November to May 2009.

I’m excited to be speaking on the Industrial Strength SEO panel on Day 2, 19th May 2009:

Industrial Strength SEO – When you’re doing SEO for a big site – or tens or hundreds of sites – you’ve got to bring in the big tools, lots of organizational skills and knowhow to integrate SEO with the ongoing web production processes and employee thinking in general. This session examines both the technical and organisational challenges of running huge web sites that must be search friendly.

SES London 2009 – Speaking on Dynamic Websites: Beyond the Basics panel

SES London 2009

I’m speaking at SES London 2009 on the Dynamic Websites: Beyond the Basics panel on February 19th.

The panel agenda as follows:

This session will cover all the SEO tactics possible for your dynamic site, including global site optimization tactics, page titles, metadata, page headings, content, keyword embedded URLs, page rank, sitemaps, feeds, and much more. But will this be enough? Is global site optimization enough to score a top ten ranking for a competitive term, or is something more specific required? What if you do all these things are in place and it’s still not enough to get a listing into the top 50 much less the top 5? Learn about specific instances where everything was done right, and yet more work had to be done.

SMX London 2008

SMX London 2008

I’m really pleased to be popping my speaking cherry at SMX London 2008! I’ll be speaking on the ”Industrial Strength SEO” panel in the “Heavy Duty SEO” track.

In particular, (and thanks to my experience as UK SEO Manager at Cheapflights.co.uk), I’m going to be discussing some of the organisational challenges faced by SEO’s and their teams in large organisations. If I’ve got time I’ll leave you with some SEO tips too.

On the panel is Bronco’s Dave Naylor, Gary Moyle, SEO Consultant at Guava and Adam Sherk, Search/PR Strategist at Define Search Strategies.
